Ferocious, feisty and fiercely packed with energy, Dinosaurs make for an entertaining and edge-of-your-seat style watch. The world’s fascination with these creatures' diversity and unpredictability is a particular driving factor behind their success.

In light of this, we have compiled a list of the top 3 Dinosaur movies that have hit the top spot by critics and consumers, creating a compelling final product. These include;

Jurassic Park

Starting off with a Spielberg classic, Jurassic Park is the quintessential dinosaur depiction that paved the way for the rest of the reptile-related blockbusters. Produced in 1993, the storyline follows a pragmatic paleontologist visiting an almost complete theme park populated by dinosaurs that have been scientifically crafted by prehistoric DNA, created by the Park founder - John Hammond.

However, the story soon takes a dangerous twist when there is a malfunction in the park due to a power cut and the dinosaurs escape from their cage. One of the film’s most thrilling sequences, a T-rex escapes its enclosure and proceeds to wreck the tour vehicles.

Hold on, spoiler alert...

Eventually, our heroes are cornered by the last two raptors inside the main atrium. Just as all hope is lost, the T-Rex comes crashing in and attacks the raptors, buying enough time for the small group of humans to escape.

As the humans evacuate the island by helicopter, the T-Rex gives a final victory roar behind a falling banner proclaiming: "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth". The ending scene is quite powerful and epic, and perfectly captures the spirit of the film in portraying dinosaurs as some of the most magnificent creatures to ever walk the Earth...

The Land Before Time

For a cartoon adventure, the Land Before Time is the perfect place to get your source of dino-content.

The film follows an orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot, who sets off in search of the legendary Great Valley. A land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way he meets four other young dinosaurs, each one a different species, and they encounter several obstacles as they learn to work together in order to survive.

The Lost World

Our dinosaur movie list would not be complete without a Steven Spielberg sequel. The lost World, produced in 1997, showcases a revival of the infamous Jurassic park.

John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) summons chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to his home with some startling information -- while nearly everything at his Jurassic Park had been destroyed, his engineers happened to have a second site, where other dinosaurs were kept in hiding. It seems the dinosaurs on the second island are alive and well and even breeding; and Hammond wants Malcolm to observe and document the reptiles before Hammond's financiers can get to them.
